Chicago To Consider Ban on Metal Baseball Bats

Chicago Alderman Bob Fioretti (center) introduced an Ordinance at the September 10 Chicago City Council meeting that would ban the use of metal baseball bats due to safety issues by youths involved in any organized baseball game in Chicago public schools or at Chicago Park District sites.
Participating in a news conference prior to the Council meeting were (from left) Tamiko Ross, community relations director of the Midwest Brain Injury Clubhouse; Christina Russo, a mother of a teenage son whose face was shattered when he was struck by a ball hit by a metal bat; Antonio M. Romanucci, a partner in Romanucci & Blandin, LLC, and a strong proponent of the Ordinance; and Dr. Ricardo Senno, a physician who is a specialist in the rehabilitation of patients with Traumatic Brain Injury.
